Foundational AI for School Leaders 

The PSBA Institute and Millersville University are pleased to offer Foundational AI for School Leaders, an asynchronous certificate program introducing school leaders to the fundamental concepts and practical applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in educational settings. Participants will explore how AI can enhance decision-making, optimize administrative processes, and support teaching and learning while addressing ethical, safety and privacy considerations. By the end of the program, participants will be equipped with foundational AI knowledge and actionable strategies for integrating AI responsibly into their schools.

This certificate program has been approved for Act 45 credit.

The course requires about eight to 10 hours of independent work through asynchronous instruction. The first cohort for this program will run June 16 through August 1.

Course goals:  

  • Explain key concepts of artificial learning including machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI. 
  • Identify AI-powered tools that can support instruction, administrative tasks, and student engagement. 
  • Analyze policies related to AI, including data security, intellectual property, and compliance with educational laws. 
  • Examine ethical considerations, including bias, data privacy, and responsible AI use in education.  
  • Explore ways to ensure AI implementation in schools promotes student-centered learning and accessibility for all students. 
  • Promote ethical decision-making and leadership practices to guide AI adoption in schools. 
  • Recognize critical factors for promoting the integration of AI into your school’s operations and teaching practices.
